Long story short

If all of you who voted in our 2010 Best Of Colorado Springs readers' poll descended upon the World Arena, you'd fill every seat. And there'd be plenty of voters left to play a hockey game, or to stage a three-ring circus, or to crowd the stage to see if Glenn Beck's breath really smells like freedom. (Did you know he's having a rally there on the 26th?)

More than 8,200 voters made the 17th annual Best Of the biggest one in our history, by far. We are sincerely thankful for your participation, and proud that the food, drink and nightlife awards announced (as well as next week's awards, for other types of area standouts) are pulled from such a deep pool of your input.

Speaking of voting, by the way, this issue also contains the second and final installment of our endorsements in this November's election. This week, we focus on city- and county-level questions and candidates; if you missed last week's state-level endorsements, you can find them on the cheat sheet here.

In their own ways, each of the people highlighted in Best Of is doing his or her part to make this city a wonderful place to live. Let's hope we can say the same about the people we choose to represent them, and all of us, come Nov. 2.
