But that was the length of one concert day, start to finish, at The Black Sheep last week.
By the end of that time, my knees were sore from standing and running around to get interviews.
I pitched this story (which starts on page 14) thinking our readers might want a glimpse at the work it takes to throw a decent concert in Colorado Springs.
From the start, I planned on following everyone involved in a concert setting musicians, booking agents, managers, security, retailers and fans as they went through their day-to-day operations.
And I followed them like crazy. I wanted to make sure I saw everything and anything that happened. Over the course of the day, plenty did.
It was reassuring that I was hardly the only one committed. Everyone there for the Mastodon show musicians, booking agents, managers, security, retailers and fans seemed just as dedicated to having a great show in Colorado Springs.
Most importantly, they were willing to work to make it happen.
