Remember Sinbad? Yeah, me neither. But he's apparently the heir to Bill Cosby's Mr. Clean of black funny guys with the red hair and goatee who starred on that Cosby spin-off A Different World back in the late '80s and early '90s when it truly was a different world. In a show sponsored by the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region, he'll be at the Pikes Peak Center tonight doing his family-oriented stand-up at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for kids 12 and under. The Star Bar Players are out of the gates in the new year with a production of William Inge's 1955 play Bus Stop (later made into a movie starring Marilyn Monroe). The play examines the lives of five lost souls who have to spend the night in a dive of a diner during a blizzard. The show opens tonight at 8 in the Lon Chaney Theater, 221 E. The Da Vinci Quartet's kickin' it with Lawrence Leighton Smith on the ivories tonight at Colorado College's Packard Hall (southwest corner of Cascade and Cache La Poudre). Today's the last day to check out Sandy Kinnee's Beadsman's Work and Other Evidence of/Activity of *Some Kind at the Coburn Gallery at Colorado College (inside the Worner Center on the northwest corner of Cascade and Cache La Poudre). Based on the practice of Beadsmen -- mendicants who exchanged prayers for food and shelter -- Kinnee's artwork is a form of visual prayer using handmade paper. Coburn Gallery is open from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

The constantly touring Minnesota-spawned jam band Big Tasty will be spreading their jams tonight on the Utopia Caf, 117 E. Bijou St. It's an 18-and-over show and tickets are $5. Call 633-1080 for more.
