Leif Bjaland + Schumann and Brahms

When: Oct. 23-24 2010

OK, so it's a bit late to toss your hat into the ring as a potential successor to outgoing Colorado Springs Philharmonic music director Lawrence Leighton Smith. But it's not too late to see Leif Bjaland, the first of the five finalists for the position, conducting Brahms, Chabrier and Schumann at the Pikes Peak Center (190 S. Cascade Ave., Today's 2:30 p.m. concert is an encore performance — the same repertoire as last night's 8 o'clock program — and each will also feature pianist Yeol Eum Son. Post-performance audience surveys will be taken into consideration when the search committee makes its final decision. — Bill Forman
