Kuna Mola: Maintaining Tradition Amid Change

When: Dec. 13-Jan. 27 2012

Exhibits about textiles and garments usually fall into two categories: the garment as art, or the garment as anthropology. This has much to do with what is known (or not) about the objects' creators, among many factors. See what type of show Kuna Mola: Maintaining Tradition Amid Change is when it opens today at Colorado College's Coburn Gallery (Worner Campus Center, 902 N. Cascade Ave., theideaspace.com). It's a collection of 60 molas, colorful decorated panels sewn to blouses made by the Kuna women of Panama. Catch the 4:30 p.m. reception with collector Joyce Cheney, or drop in any afternoon, Tuesday through Friday, through Jan. 27. — Edie Adelstein
