NPR-member station KRCC (91.5 FM) is expanding to the northwestern part of the region after acquiring a 100-watt transmitter in Woodland Park. The station's programming from the new transmitter begins July 5 at 89.5 FM. "The Woodland Park transmitter will improve signal coverage, allowing for continuous coverage as motorists wind their way from Colorado Springs to Lake George, Hartsel and beyond," according to a press release from the station's license holder, Colorado College.
The $24,000 transmitter, which is the station's 11th, currently has the call letters KILE, but KRCC has applied to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to rename it KWCC.
