Joan Jett & The Blackhearts at The Colorado State Fair, Friday, Aug. 31, 7 p.m., Southwest Motors Event Center, coloradostatefair.com.
f you missed out on Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ performance three months ago at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre, here’s your chance to make up for it. In fact, you may be better off, given the comparatively intimate venue and the fact that she won’t have to sacrifice stage-time to Styx and Tesla, who have gone back to wherever it is those kinds of bands go. Jett has tons of material to draw upon, ranging from her former band The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb” to her own signature songs, which include “I Love Rock ‘N Roll,” “Bad Reputation” and her hit remake of Tommy James & The Shondells’ “Crimson & Clover.” Recent shows have also included covers of The Troggs’ “Love Is All Around,” the Bruce Springsteen-penned “Light of Day,” and a stomping “Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah),” a question that’s guaranteed to get a more rousing response for the black leather rock icon than it did for its decidedly less svelte originator Gary Glitter.
