JAKs Brewing Company announces Colorado Springs expansion

JAKs Brewing Company has announced plans to expand into Colorado Springs. According to co-founder Antonio Lee, they’ve been planning on growing their presence in the region for some time, but they’ve been waiting for the right opportunity. When a spot on the corner of Dublin Boulevard and Marksheffel Road, opened up, they jumped on it.

“Two days later, we’re into the lease,” says Lee. He’s shared a few details about the spot informally known as JAKs 2 (7715 Dublin Blvd., #160). It’s meant to evoke their original, smaller JAKs digs in Falcon, playing the role of a neighborhood pub.

“No matter where we’re at, we want to make sure it’s completely family,” says Lee. They’ll have 18 taps on a pour-your-own iPourIt system, the same concept used at Trail’s End Taproom, but they’re using a different vendor. In addition to JAKs beers, they’ll offer other local brews, focused on Colorado Springs and, to a lesser extent, Denver breweries. For non-beer fans, they plan to offer Colorado-made cider and wine on tap, too.

For food, they’ll have a small snack bar, offering things like pretzels and pizzas. Lee says they’ll also have a pass-through window with adjacent Korean Garden, allowing customers to eat bulgogi with their brews and booze. They also hope to host food trucks from time to time.

Based on turnaround time for their current location, Lee says it should take around six months for the spot to be ready, though that’s tentative when we speak.

“We’re big promise-less-deliver-more people,” he says. “If we open up earlier, great, but we’re probably looking at at least March.”
