Jake Shimabukuro

When: Fri., Aug. 9, 8 p.m. 2013

Jake Shimabukuro covers a lot of ground with just four strings, reinventing pop tunes like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as stunningly virtuosic instrumentals. And while last year's Grand Ukulele album found him recording live-in-the-studio with legendary producer Alan Parsons and a 29-piece orchestra, the 36-year-old musician's stripped-down solo performances still convey a special kind of magic. Catch him at 8 tonight when he returns to Stargazers Theatre and Event Center (10 S. Parkside Drive, for $20/advance, $25/door. — Bill Forman
