What's your biggest concern at the city level? My past involvement with housing associations makes me concerned with crime.
How important are helicopters to the police? As the city gets bigger, they help us respond to medical and law enforcement needs more quickly.
Does it bother you that 2007 tied this town's murder record? A little. It's never good for it to be that high.
How do you think COSMIX went? I didn't have many dealings with it because I live and work on the other side of town. It'll be great to have it finished, though.
What advice would you give the new city manager? Realize that Colorado Springs is becoming a big city. Get rid of that small-city attitude towards things.

How important are helicopters to the police? I've seen times when they've been useful searching for criminals in Cascade.
Does last year's record murder tally concern you? Those of us who've lived here for 20-plus years worry about the rising murder rate.
What's your advice for the Springs' new city manager? Colorado Springs is a great place to live, but it needs better planning. Know what you're up against before beginning a project you can't afford to finish and have to rob other budgets to do so.

What's your view on how COSMIX went? It's a good thing for north-south movement through town. It's phenomenal, the way they've been able to keep traffic at Union and Austin Bluffs moving despite the big work project there.
What piece of advice do you have for the new city manager? We need to attract more industry to town and not just be a sprawling suburb.
