What gift are you hoping for this year? A digital camera. I've gone without a camera for a long, long time.
What's something you'd rather not get? Gifts given out of go-through-the-motion duty. Junk.
How would Christmas change for you without gift- giving? It wouldn't, really. I believe Christmas is all year around, not just one day.
What's the best gift you've ever received? A DVD player last year.
Name the biggest bummer of the season. It's buy, buy, buy, buy, buy.
How was it different as a kid? Christmas is really for kids. They're innocent, they're enchanted by it all, they believe in Santa.

What gift are you hoping for this year? Tools, tools and tools.
How would your holiday change without the gift part? It'd be way cheaper, but also a little disappointing.
Recall your best-ever gift. When I was waist- high, I got these Lego-like construction things, except they were tubes. You could build forts and cars. I had so much fun with that, it was ridiculous.
Your worst-ever gift? A little decorative figurine thing. I'm not a very decorative person.
What's a downside of Christmas? It's gotten so commercial. We've lost sight of the real reason for Christmas, Jesus' birthday.
How was it all different as a kid? Adults have a burden of obligation to get gifts, put up lights, do all the things you're supposed to do. It's not all fun.
What gift would you most like this year? Endless vacation time.
How would your observance of Christmas change if the gift part were eliminated? I'd get out of all that crazy shopping. It would be a more pleasant and quiet holiday.
Relate your best-ever gift. When I was 43, my sister gave me a tabletop hockey game, and I hadn't had one since as a kid. We broke it almost right away, it was so much fun.
Your all-time worst? I was living in Massachusetts 20 years ago, and my mom was in love with my girlfriend. She sent us a box of Christmas gifts, and the one for my girlfriend was this ceramic music box with two lovebirds that played "You Light Up My Life." Luckily, it had broken into several pieces in the mail, but my roommate had the audacity to glue them back together.
