IQ: Summer's here ... basically



It feels a little early to talk about summer — and technically, it is, considering the season's official start is June 21. But still, some kids are getting out of school this week. So ... what comes next?

What's your favorite summer memory? The summer between high school and college. We lived in Hawaii and I spent the summer hanging out and surfing. It was good to be 18 years old.

What's the ideal way to spend a summer day? Sleep in, have a good breakfast, go for a bike ride, watch a baseball game, take a nap.

Name a taste, scent or sight you consider the essence of summer. The true smell and taste of summer is sun-block lip balm.

Name the most overrated thing about summer in Colorado. The Rockies [baseball team].

What's the downside of summer? Lightning. I've been in several houses and buildings when they were hit.

Do you like or loathe tourists? I kind of resent the way they overrun the trails and ski areas. They're irksome, but they're necessary for the economy.

Name a sight, taste or scent that's the essence of summer. The smells of foods at fairs, especially roasting green chiles in Pueblo.
