Inertia Coffee has moved and expanded. The veteran-owned café and roastery has relocated from 4650 N. Nevada Ave. to 406 S. Eighth St., Unit B.

“We were expanding within our first year a little faster than we were planning to,” says Joanna Derheimer, who runs the shop with her husband, Brian. “Everyone was complaining about getting into our old location. We took that into consideration [in picking the new space].”

In addition to more lighting and couch seating, the new Inertia home also has more storage for house-roasted beans, prepared in the roaster that shares the front of house with customers.

“We’ve had people who have been customers of ours for a while, and they’re just learning that we have a roaster,” says Joanna. They’ve also brought the neighboring Vintage Grooming Company along to their new location — that company’s owner, Derwood Willhite, co-owns Inertia with the Derheimers.

The new space opened on Veterans Day, Inertia’s one-year anniversary.
