Do you have any unique Thanksgiving traditions? Just the standard lots and lots of turkey.
Is Thanksgiving more trouble than it's worth? I believe in rituals. They add up to make life what it is. One is the Thanksgiving preparations the family endures together.
What's your worst Thanksgiving ever? I had Thanksgiving at the Doubletree years back that was a cheesy, God-awful experience. Terrible service, a fakey meal, expensive a bummer experience all around.
What's the first thing you always taste at Thanksgiving dinner? The yams. It's something we rarely have.
If you didn't have turkey, what would you have? Salmon.
Describe a fast-food Thanksgiving dinner. A KFC chicken dinner, but with turkey. Greasy and loaded with hormones.
Is Thanksgiving worth all that effort? We work on it as a family. My wife bakes all her own bread, pies and such. It's a homey time with friends and family.
What's your worst-ever Thanksgiving? Once when I was in jail. They fed us this turkey-bologna stuff.
What do you always taste first? The gravy. Then the stuffing.
If you didn't have turkey, what would you have? One year, we had duck.
Is eating out on Thanksgiving as good as eating at home? It's just not the same. You can't sneak down to the refrigerator later that night for some cold stuffing and turkey.
Do you have any unusual Thanksgiving traditions? Just the usual family get-together to eat and argue and get a little snookered.
Is Thanksgiving more trouble than it's worth? No especially as I get older, what with older family members passing away and brand new members replacing them. It's an important yearly moment.
What's your all-time worst Thanksgiving? Two years ago when, I was alone in the Gold Stream Valley of Alaska, so far off the grid that there was no way to contact anyone.
What's the first thing you go for at Thanksgiving dinner? I grab a piece of turkey and dip it in the gravy.
If you didn't have turkey, what would it be? Probably ham. But caribou and elk are good, too.
Is eating out on Thanksgiving as good as eating at home? If all the family were together it might be OK, but there's something special about smelling the food cooking all morning and everyone there.
