Historical Characterization: "Will Rogers Story as America's Story

When: Thu., Sept. 25, 5:30-7 p.m. 2014

Apparently, WWWRD? is a thing. Both acronymfinder.com and thefreedictionary.com recognize "What Would Will Rogers Do?" as worthy of inclusion. What makes the influence of this 1920s and '30s humorist/writer/actor endure all these years later? Colorado Humanities and local partners explore this and other questions in their "Week With Will," which kicks off at 5:30 tonight at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (215 S. Tejon St.; free, but make required reservations at cspm.org or 385-5990). In Will Rogers' Story as America's Story, Oklahoma-based Rogers impersonator Dr. Doug Watson will share some of the legend's "experiences and visions of America," then take questions. Watson will pop up in the Springs four more times over the next three days; see tiny.cc/v3femx for the rundown. Kirk Woundy

Price: Free admission, workshops $5-$10
