If you find yourself driving on Highway 83 more often to avoid the "Gap" construction on I-25, Hidden Mesa is a very convenient stop along the way between Colorado Springs and the Denver metro area.
That notwithstanding, it's worth the trip anyway. There are only a few trails in this park, including the venerable Cherry Creek Trail which runs along the east side of the park, along Cherry Creek.
This hike creates a moderate 7 mile loop.
Things You Need to Know: The trails in the open space are open to all users except motorized vehicles. Parking for horse trailers is on the left immediately after turning off of Highway 83, and parking for everyone else is a little further down, around the large circle that surrounds an old farm building. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
Next Friday is "Black Friday" and also OptOutside and Fresh Air Friday. Entry fees to all Colorado State Parks will be waived and some state parks will be hosting Fresh Air Friday events. Instead of shopping, consider using the day to work off that Thanksgiving meal and enjoy the outdoors. The bargains will still be there.
Be Good. Do Good Things.
