What do you think about Colorado Springs' super-abundance of nonprofits? I was unaware of that situation, but I guess it's cool.
If you were given $1,000 that you had to give to a local nonprofit, which would you give it to? Probably the soup kitchen.
Have you ever been assisted by a nonprofit? No.
Why is it that the affluent are less apt to give much to nonprofits? Maybe that's why they're rich in the first place. Or maybe it's that they're so insulated from those in need.

What accounts for the super-abundance of nonprofits in Colorado Springs? People are attracted to Colorado Springs for a lot of reasons, but I suspect that once certain groups were established here, a lot more decided this was the place to be, too.
What local philanthropy would you be most inclined to contribute to? The Marian House Soup Kitchen.
Have you ever received philanthropic assistance? No, but I know for a fact that a number of my students received it.
Why are rich folks the ones less apt to give much to nonprofits? They're out of touch with everyday struggle. They don't see it. They're into money and want to keep it instead of sharing the wealth.

Which local charity do you view most favorably? Any that assists low-income children.
Have you ever received assistance from a philanthropy? I'm on the low-income side of things and there are times of the month that I have to eat at the soup kitchen to keep full.
What accounts for the reticence of high-income people to donate to philanthropies? They have less heart and compassion because they don't see daily suffering and struggle.

Why are the wealthy less inclined than those lower on the economic ladder to donate to philanthropies? A lot of rich people have a hard time letting go of their money. I've known some rich people whose attitude is that "I work hard for my money. Why can't everyone else work for theirs?"
