Numbers are in from the 2017 Give! campaign. Over the course of two months, 4,079 donors raised over $1.5 million for 75 local nonprofits. That's about $100,000 over the campaign's goal at a time when, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy, charitable giving by individuals is down nationwide.
The top three fundraisers were Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association, Rocky Mountain Field Institute and Palmer Land Trust, while Colorado Springs Food Rescue did the best among young donors age 18-36. (For that, CSFR, a small nonprofit that works on hunger and health equity, will get an extra $4,000 award.)
Barb Van Hoy, the campaign's director, says, "It's brought an overwhelming feeling of love being a part of this. The nonprofits are super excited about all the support." Profiles of the participating nonprofits are viewable at indygive.com, as is information about applying to participate in the 2018 campaign.
