"Gerry Roach: 16,389 Meters"

When: Wed., Nov. 11, 7 p.m. 2009

If you've climbed a Colorado 14er or 13er, there's a good chance you lugged one of world-renowned mountaineer Gerry Roach's guidebooks with you. I've certainly been there: hot, sharp rocks under palm, scooting on my butt down a scree field (on Mount Bross I recall), literally hanging on Roach's every direction. The Boulder-based altitude guru has climbed the highest peak on each continent and the 10 highest peaks in North America. At 7 tonight, he'll present 16,389 Meters, a slideshow featuring climbs in Iran, Russia and Turkey, at Mountain Chalet (226 N. Tejon St., 633-0732). Entry is free. — Matthew Schniper
