Free Comic Book Day

When: Sat., May 5 2012

What do Norse mythology, 1940s NYC, a gamma bomb and electromagnets have in common? If you responded The Avengers, you are correct. Roughly corresponding with the release of the climactic superhero film (see p. 31 for a review) is Free Comic Book Day, a now decade-old tradition to revive the love for the art of comic-drawing. Get your geek on at Escape Velocity Comics (19 E. Bijou St.) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Ed's Cards & Comics (5857 Palmer Park Blvd.) from 10 to 7, CK Comics and Collectibles (719 Manitou Ave., Manitou Springs) from noon to 6 or Muse Comics + Games (1350 N. Academy Blvd.) from 11 to 7. Assorted library branches are also participating: PPLD's East Library from 11 to 2, and all day at the Fountain Branch.
