Holiday shopping can be fun, but it can also be stressful. Is shopping online the best way to go, or do we crave the chaos of the malls?

When I say the words "Christmas shopping," what comes to mind? My first thought would be "expensive" and the second thought is "online."

Do you do most of your shopping online? Yes. In fact, we're already done. Except for the stocking stuffers.

What kind of stocking stuffers do you look for? Just little, inexpensive, goofy stuff. Just for fun.

When's the last time you went to the mall? I don't go to the mall; I don't like it. It just seems like a lot of overpriced stuff.

Has the mall ever been a hangout for you? Yes, when I was in high school. It was just social, though. We didn't shop; we just hung out there.

What's the most chaotic shopping environment you've experienced? Walmart comes to mind, especially on weekends. It just gets crazy.

When I say the words "Christmas shopping," what comes to mind? Headaches. But family, too. I feel like it should be about family time, not about gifts or toys.

Describe your usual approach to shopping for gifts. I don't really like shopping, so I procrastinate and then I just go on impulse.

When's the last time you went to the mall? Five years ago when I lived in Massachusetts. I don't really like going to malls.

What's the most chaotic shopping environment you've experienced? It would have been on a Black Friday, but I just went shopping for myself to get some good deals.

Do you ever shop online? No, I don't feel comfortable with it. There's too much identity theft, and when I shop I like to pay with cash.

Have you ever participated in Black Friday? Yes, two years ago. I started on Thanksgiving night and I thought it was fun.

When's the last time you went to the mall, and what was it like? I went last Sunday with my daughter. ... But we weren't Christmas shopping, we were shopping for her wedding coming up in January.

Has the mall ever been a hangout for you? Yes, I like to go shopping and looking. I can spend hours there and just enjoy myself, even if I don't buy anything.

What's the most chaotic holiday shopping experience you've ever had? It was in 1983. At that time I only got paid once a month. I didn't get paid until December 23rd, and it snowed bunches. My older brother had to drive me in his truck, so it was last-minute and also with a foot of snow.
