Exposition d'Art at the Steampunk Salon

When: Aug. 19-Oct. 16 2016

Steampunk art is heavily influenced by the 19th-century science fiction of author Jules Verne, especially Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and From the Earth to the Moon. The Manitou Art Center is celebrating the French-inspired art movement with its très Français Third Annual Steampunk Salon, which will feature a juried selection of submitted pieces exploring steampunk and retro futurism. Expect a large showing from Mistress Fogg's Occult Eccentricities and Crypto Curiosities, as well as a display of costumes by Janson Fangio, who designs for Fine Arts Center shows. 5-8 p.m. 513-515 Manitou Ave., free, 685-1861, — Griffin Swartzell
