Escape the Fate

When: Mon., May 27 2013

Escape the Fate's most recent video opens with a cautionary statement that portions of it may be offensive or inappropriate for some viewers. Presumably the warning refers to its graphic violence, not the intercut shots of the musicians lip syncing to its latest emo-core single. In fairness, the Las Vegas band's "Ungrateful" video is a plea against violence, which we know because it says "end the cycle now" right after showing photos of real-life kids who committed suicide. Personally, I think hip-hop act Atmosphere handled the theme a lot more powerfully in its "The Last to Say" video, but those who prefer a load of violence-porn with their social commentary may disagree. In any case, you can catch Escape the Fate, minus the video, tonight at the Black Sheep (2106 E. Platte Ave., Doors open at 7 and all-ages tickets are $20 advance, $22 day of show. — Bill Forman
