Election day parties

When: Tue., Nov. 6 2012

Presidential elections usually don't rival Super Bowls in viewership — in 2008, Barack Obama's win pulled 71.5 million, as compared to the New York Giants' 97.4 million. But they should, especially since you never have to hear Joe Buck call the big political game. So take heed: On this Election Night, the El Paso County Democrats will gather for a viewing party at the Antlers Hilton (4 S. Cascade Ave., antlers.com), where festivities start at 6. County Republicans will be at the DoubleTree Hotel (1775 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd.), starting at 6:30. Both events offer food and a cash bar, but the Dems require a $30 ticket; the GOP folks will let you in free, though they'd love a donation. — Kirk Woundy
