East Coast Deli has been around for 18 years, showing no signs of slowing. The dining room’s packed at lunch, so we enjoy a sunny afternoon on the porch. The Farmer Brothers coffee ($2.89/bottomless) serves its purpose as a hot caffeine source, added cream or sugar recommended. We pair it with a Coney Island ($11.99) sandwich, picking potato salad as a side.

Café/Sandwich
The tender salad bears shredded carrots and reads celery salt. Our sandwich bears a stack of roasted turkey on a tender French roll. While the green chilies bear zero spice, their vegetal taste is welcome, and horseradish sauce keeps each bite light, cleansing but not scorching. If you’re doing your math, you’ve noticed that’s almost $15 before tax or tip for a sandwich and coffee. Few other spots in town are gunning for NYC authenticity like this spot. But a cheap-and-fast convenience lunch, this ain’t.
