DMX, with Black Pegasus

When: Fri., Oct. 16 2009

DMX has definitely put the rap back in rapsheet over the years, but recent transformations may change all that. The mega-platinum emcee, actor, author and martial arts devotee parted ways with Columbia Records and reportedly has both a gospel album and a secular record slated for 2010 release. So maybe it's not so surprising to find him making his way to the Springs as headlining attraction for tonight's 7 p.m. show at the Phil Long Expo Center (1515 Auto Mall Loop, soulclay.com). Tickets are $35 to $55, with 50 percent of the proceeds earmarked for American Charities, a local emergency food and clothing nonprofit. Nine other hip-hop performers, including local hero Black Pegasus, are also on the bill for what could end up being the local hip-hop event of the year. — Bill Forman
