D L Hughley

When: Fri., Oct. 17, 7:30 p.m. 2014

In his 2012 book I Want You to Shut the F#ck Up, comedian D.L. Hughley tells the story of when he took over a regional sales department at the Los Angeles Times in 1986 and was greeted with a note that said "Go home nigger" and a black mannequin head. "I don't know who you all think you're scaring," he yelled from his office, "but I'm not leaving." It's this attitude that has brought him from there to here, with an original sitcom, a Peabody Award and, of course, a Dancing with the Stars appearance, in between. As he says: "I used to always run off at the mouth and talk about people. I just didn't know that it would make a living for me." Catch one of the Kings of Comedy at 7:30 tonight at USAFA's Arnold Hall Theater (2308 Cadet Drive, Tickets start at $25. — Bryce Crawford
