Cripple Creek Ice Festival

When: Fri., Feb. 13, Sun., Feb. 15, Sat., Feb. 21 and Sun., Feb. 22 2015

With ice slides, an ice maze and carnival games made of ice, the Cripple Creek Ice Festival is, first and foremost, family-friendly. However, if those words give you a chill, try these: "an ice bar with a liquor luge ensures you always have a refreshing beverage to enjoy." Now that perceptions of the event are properly calibrated, consider attending the free fest, which begins today and runs this weekend and next, on Bennett Avenue (tinyurl.com/oeou8ku). And if you really do want to mingle mostly among adults, today might be a good day — on the 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd, the Butte Theater will be showing Frozen as part of the deal, for free (donations requested), four times daily. — Kirk Woundy
