Cosmic Encounter

When: May 1-15 2010

My closest experience to a cosmic encounter was the first time I saw the Milky Way stretch across the horizon, while I was camping at Great Sand Dunes National Park. The more I stared, the more it seemed like there was no point in the sky without a star. Rendering similar beauty artistically seems a tall order, but Nancy Stage Robinson gives it a shot with Cosmic Encounter, a series of colorful abstracts recalling nebulae and star clusters. Her works on display now at Boulder Street Gallery (206 N. Tejon St., will stay up through mid-May. — Edie Adelstein
