Community Read-Through

When: Sat., Dec. 19, 3 p.m. 2015

Welsh poet Dylan Thomas may be better known for the classic "Do not go gentle into that good night," but more seasonally appropriate is one of his longer prose works, "A Child's Christmas in Wales." Today at 3, come to Mountain Fold Books (121 E. Costilla St., mountainfoldbooks.org) for a community read-through of Thomas' beloved tale of nostalgia for childhood Christmases. Participants will read the tale aloud en masse, forming a choir of voices. Mountain Fold event coordinator Mia Alvarado was inspired by a 24-hour community read-through of Dante's Divine Comedy she attended at a church in New York. "In the global age, I think people are finding it hard to connect," she said in a press release. "It's a beautiful time to return to the oral and community roots of literature." — Griffin Swartzell
