Colorado State Fair

When: Aug. 28-Sept. 7 2015

Fair season is coming to an end, and it's capped by the 146-year-old Colorado State Fair (1001 Beulah Ave., Pueblo, coloradostatefair.com). Since its humble beginnings as a horse exhibition, the fair has become one of the largest summer events in the state, delivering everything from combat sports and monster trucks to beer fests and live music. (Fun fact: The fair has been canceled only once, during World War I, when the location served as a National Guard training area.) Tonight is PRCA Ram Rodeo Dollar Rodeo Night; festivities started Friday and run through Sept. 7. Admission to the grounds is $7, and kids 4 and younger are free. — Craig Lemley
