Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Celebratory Luncheon

When: Sun., March 14, 11:30 a.m. 2010

Whether we like classical music or not, all of us owe a small debt of gratitude to former Colorado Springs Symphony musical director Charles Ansbacher. Not only did he lead the symphony (now the Colorado Springs Philharmonic) for 16 years in the '70s and '80s, he also paired with executive director Bee Vradenburg to catalyze community support for constructing the Pikes Peak Center. Today, the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association honors Ansbacher, who's coming in from Boston for a luncheon and musical performance in his honor. The former costs $75, starts at 11:30 at the Antlers Hilton (4. S. Cascade Ave.), and guarantees you a seat at the latter, which starts at 2 at the Pikes Peak Center (190 S. Cascade Ave.) Otherwise, get to the House That Ansbacher Built early for a shot at a free seat. Call 633-3901 for visit csysa.com for more. — Kirk Woundy
