Colorado Horseman's Expo

When: Sat., March 19, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. 2016

The dog may be considered man's best friend, but there's an entire community in the Pikes Peak region that would argue horses are a strong contender — our Old West roots are diehard. Those pretty ponies you see dotting the hills and plains have dedicated owners who spend quite a bit of time — and money — on their care. And while it may be called "mastery" to convince a creature that outweighs you by hundreds, or even thousands of pounds to do your bidding, any horseman will tell you that it all relies on kindness, friendship and deep trust. Celebrating this unique relationship, the Colorado Horseman's Expo brings together riders, professionals and horse enthusiasts for a day of informative clinics, fun kid's activities like pony rides, and unique vendors. Special demonstrations include barrel racing and horse vaulting. Giddyup for a day that's fun, friendly, and free. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Norris-Penrose Event Center, 1045 Lower Gold Camp Road, 635-1101, — Bridgett Harris
