Under a proposed rules change, Colorado Springs City Council members won't be able to donate unused Council money to charities or projects, even if they benefit the city.
The rule change, discussed at Monday's Council meeting, was prompted by Council's "ongoing discussion on changes to our ethics environment," Councilor Bill Murray reports.
The reasoning behind rescinding the ability to donate the money was that the provision has "not proven to be of general use to Councilmembers," according to the agenda item. No money has been donated in recent years, the documents said.
