Circus without Borders

When: Mon., July 18, 7-9 p.m. 2016

The art of performance is all about community. Performers rely on each other to create a great show; the audience relies on the performers to entertain; and the greater culture relies on the arts to grow and innovate. So when two friends, who happen to be top-notch acrobats, decide to bring the art of performance to their hometowns, incredible things happen. Circus Without Borders follows Guillaume Saladin and Yamoussa Bangoura, who hail from the Canadian Arctic and Guinea, West Africa, respectively. In the seven years it took to create this documentary, they inspired and trained youths in their own communities to create world-class circus performances. The story is inspiring, the talent is incredible, and you can catch it for free tonight at Ivywild, courtesy of the Independent Film Society of Colorado. 7-9 p.m., 1604 S. Cascade Ave., free, 368-6100, — Alissa Smith
