CFAM Winter Market

When: Sat., Dec. 8, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 2012

Being a cash-strapped student in Strasbourg in the dead of winter has its drawbacks — howling winds, German tourists, heartbreakingly expensive espresso — and distinct advantages. The primary one, of course, is that you're in Strasbourg. A close second is the winter market that pops up next to the trolley station every Tuesday, transforming the plaza into a cheapskate's playground full of imported handicrafts (souvenirs for the folks), homemade orchard preserves (hostess gift for your next soirée), and artisan cheeses (lunch). Someone at the Colorado Farm and Art Market had a similarly misspent youth, because they're touting today's Winter Market at the Margarita at PineCreek (7350 Pine Creek Road, as a European holiday extravaganza. Go between 10 and 3 for all the handicrafts, preserves and cheeses you can handle, but probably no German tourists, merci bon dieu. — Claire Swinford
