Celebrating David Bowie, Sunday, Feb. 25, 8 p.m., Denver, paramountdenver.com.
hile the song “Aladdin Sane” may not have been David Bowie’s most memorable, a convincing argument can be made for Mike Garson’s avant-garde piano solo being one of pop music’s most unforgettably eccentric juxtapositions. Over the course of three decades, the New York City native has been a featured keyboardist on more than a dozen Bowie albums, which gives him as much right as anyone (and maybe more) to tour the Thin White Duke’s music. As evidence, consider the other Bowie accompanists who’ll be joining Garson onstage for the North American leg of this tour: guitarist Earl Slick, vocalist Bernard Fowler, 2010 Reality Tour guitarist/bandleader Gerry Leonard, and bassist Carmine Rojas. In other words, if you catch just one Bowie tribute tour this lifetime, make it this one.
