Casey Veggies

When: Mon., Dec. 7 2015

The son of a former Jay-Z bodyguard, Casey Veggies was part of the Odd Future collective for just one mixtape, but the Inglewood rapper can still count on his former cohorts to lend moral support and, in some cases, comic relief. Yet even the irascible Odd Future leader Tyler The Creator turns serious on "RIP," a song about police brutality and gang violence from Casey's recent major-label debut Live & Grow, as he delivers the hook "I can't deal with the fact that you gone / Momma cryin', family stayin' strong." Barring some early Christmas miracle, Tyler won't be joining Casey onstage tonight at Rawkus (3506 N. Academy Blvd., rawkusnation.com, 596-0000), but Colorado hip-hop heavyweights D-Stylz, J-Krupt and Fresh Crew will. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., tickets are $15. — Bill Forman
