Carmina Burana

The Carmina Burana was originally a collection of 254 poems and dramatic texts from the 11th and 12th centuries written by students and clergy. They include love songs, drinking songs and many words of moral and spiritual guidance. In the 1930s, Carl Orff took 24 of those poems and turned them into a choral composition. At 2 today at the Pikes Peak Center (190 S. Cascade Ave.,, 11 regional organizations with 400 performers will perform the scenic cantata Carmina Burana. This final performance punctuates a week of lead-up activities and events held at various venues around the Springs. Tickets to today's show are $18 to $20 and can be bought at — Molly Mrazek
