Street Smarts

Best: "of the highest quality, excellence, or standing; most advantageous, suitable, or desirable." Seems simple enough ... except when it comes to people's taste buds.

Caridad Marten from east Colorado Springs is a waitress

What's the most unique drink you've had in Colorado Springs? Stoli Doli — pineapple-infused vodka martini — at Sonterra Grill.

When you're craving something savory, where do you go? I go up north to Five Guys Burgers on Academy and eat a delicious burger.

What's the best thing you've ever tasted in Colorado Springs? Green Chile Mac & Cheese from the Loop restaurant in Manitou Springs.

What's your typical night out in this city? Going to see a movie at Kimball's or Tinseltown and then hanging out with friends.

Diane Cobbett from the Memorial Park area is a receptionist

Where do you go when you need a quick lunch? Wooglin's Deli.

When you're craving something savory, what's your pick? Omelets Etc., for the pumpkin pancakes, on South Eighth Street. It's a fabulous family restaurant. There are a lot of gluten-free options as well. It's a really excellent place.

What do you think makes a place "the best"? What makes a place the best is if it has choices for people who eat all kinds of foods. For example, a sushi place that has a grill — that way people who don't like sushi can go there and enjoy it with others who do like sushi. Also, a great wait staff is key, to provide a friendly atmosphere.

Of service, food or atmosphere, which is most important to you at a restaurant or bar, and why? Service is the most important because if the service is good, I can cope with the food not being five stars. If the service is good, it makes it an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.

Paul York from downtown is an educator

You're craving something savory. Where do you go, and what do you get? The Indiana Roll — crab and asparagus tempura, topped with squid, black tobiko, and drizzled with sweet wasabi mayonnaise — at Yoo Mae.

What is the most unique drink you've had in Colorado Springs? Frank's Mistake at Nosh; I have no idea what's in it, but it's delicious. Also the Pomegranate Lemonade at Nosh.

When you're in need of something sweet, where do you go? Josh and John's.

What's a typical Friday Night in Colorado Springs? If I'm hanging out with certain friends, I find myself at Cowboys. If I'm not hanging out with these friends, then I'm probably at Nosh or Red Martini.
