Brian Jonestown Massacre

When: Tue., May 8 2012

The Brian Jonestown Massacre already had a substantial cult following by the time the 2004 documentary Dig! played up the hate portion of the band's love-hate relationship with the Dandy Warhols. Like Australia's Lovetones, Anton Newcombe and his San Francisco bandmates continue to mine a vein of psych-rock that's dreamy, droney and more than a little indebted to the Velvet Underground. With a dozen albums under its belt, and a new one called Aufheben due in May, the band will have no shortage of material for tonight's appearance at the Bluebird Theater (3317 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, Tickets are $22 in advance, $27 at the door for this 16-plus show, with the Blue Angel Lounge opening at 8. — Bill Forman
