If you're not going to Zodiac tonight to catch the Orange Iguanas and Grant Sabin show plugged in last week's Reverb column, there's another show I totally forgot to mention that's worthy of your attention.
That would be Middle Class Rut, the Sacramento alt-rock duo who scored a big hit last year with "New Low." (You know, the one that goes, "I've been right / I've been left / I've been wrong / I've been left / Behind / I've been up / But mostly down." Yeah that one.) Pretty catchy stuff, which the duo reportedly manages to pull off really well live.
You can catch them tonight at the Black Sheep along with the Flumps, a Florence, CO band who claim their pastime is "butchering Nirvana, Dylan and the White Stripes." (Not that anyone needs to.) The group also insists that "no one knows what their name means, not even them."
Anyway, here's the video for Middle Class Ruts' "New Low," followed by the secret origin story that the Flumps would rather you forget.
