- Pat Siborg liked the dogs at the hot dog stand outside Home Depot so much that he decided to work there.
From modest ideas do big ventures grow. Quinby Food Service struck gold some years ago when they contracted with Home Depot to sell hot dogs outside the stores, first one, now all locations. Great cheap eats, charcoal grilling (no nasty parboiling here), quality dogs and brats, decent prices, a steady friendly banter with the customers, and the ability to keep a secret: my favorite guy, Adrian Romano, at the Woodmen and Academy location, was very coy about the volume his spot handles. Let's just say they sell them as fast as they can cook them, and the line at the hot-dog cart was longer than the check-out lines for hardware. The smell of those grilling bowsers wafting into the store must drive those Home Depot clerks mad. (NH)
