Beethoven & Bernstein

When: Jan. 28-29 2012

One of my recent embarrassing moments involves falling asleep during a symphony at Carnegie Hall; I've come to believe I have a chronic case of "classicalitus." However, tonight's concert from the Colorado Springs Philharmonic showcases more than a century of music from so-called rebels of the orchestral music industry, and could keep even me awake: early symphonies of Beethoven and Bernstein, with some Berlioz thrown in (strictly for alliteration purposes). So whether you're a fan of the Romantics or a fan of R&R, the show starts at 8 tonight, with another performance at 2:30 tomorrow at the Pikes Peak Center (190 S. Cascade Ave., Tickets run $19 to $57. — Sara Michael
