Stage

Beat Generation

When: May 16-June 1 2014

The prophetic year of 2012 saw two big events related to Jack Kerouac: a long-awaited and sadly disappointing film version of On the Road, and the much more worthwhile and significant first staging of The Beat Generation, a lost Kerouac play discovered in 2004 in a New Jersey warehouse. If you're mad to live, in the great man's words, then see THEATREdART's staging of it; after Friday and Saturday's 6:30 p.m. performances, there's another at 2 today at The Subterranean at the Underground (110 N. Nevada Ave., theatredart.org). Keep in mind that the schedule repeats itself next weekend. Area poet Jonathan Andujar directs, and tickets are $15 ($5 students). — Matthew Schniper

Price: $15, $5 for students with ID
