Basic Bourbon Training

Ahead of the soon-to-open Bourbon Brothers Southern Kitchen concept at the new Copper Ridge development, consulting chef and bourbon book author Victor Matthews has made a commendable effort to stock his own Black Bear Restaurant and Bourbon Bar (10375 Ute Pass Road, Green Mountain Falls, 684-9648) with an enormous selection of the good stuff, from Pappy to Elijah Craig and Jefferson's. And now he's offering a Basic Bourbon Training class at 8 every Friday evening. The cost varies depending on your drink selection, and Matthews says "anyone serious" can sit for a Bourbon Sommelier Certification (Matthews' own brainchild) after a month. — Matthew Schniper
