Banh Mi Viet remains too legit to quit

It’s been three years since we first lost our cool over Banh Mi Viet’s authentic sandwiches, and while other businesses have come and gone in the less-than-happening shopping center Banh Mi Viet inhabits, they’ve remained. We’d bet it’s because of consistent quality and affordability — sandwiches still run $3.95 a pop.

We get a #2 and a #6, the roast pork and chicken pineapple banh mi. The former is savory bliss in every bite, porky perfection with lovely vegetables. And the latter adds a strong play between sweet and sour, fruity but not so much so that it ceases to be savory. We wrap it up with dessert, in the form of boba tea ($3) — one green tea and one Thai iced tea, both packed with tapioca balls and topped with whipped cream. Those who are into frappés will no doubt be pleased — expect a sound execution. They’re nice enough drinks, and we’ll certainly be back for more sandwiches, as the price and quality here continue to be nigh unbeatable.
