opened on April 20 — i.e. 4/20 — and yes, the jokes write themselves. The spot’s a collaboration between Steven Bailey, managing partner and chef, with Mike and Megan Davis. The Davises own both Back East Bar & Gril
l locations; Bailey’s worked for them as a chef for six years now. In that time, he developed an urge to do something more elevated than Back East’s award-winning sports bar fare — Atmosphere was his proposal, he says.
“There’s a lot of corporate restaurants and a lot of similar concepts and restaurants,” he says, “so we wanted to do something a little more elevated... without being pretentious.” It’s not fine dining per se, but it’s a step up from typical bar fare.
Bailey’s a transplant from Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and their top-selling lobster rolls are a nod to his former home. He says the gastropub’s bread and pasta are made in-house. For beer, all 12 taps are craft, and diners can also pick from 41 wines or a full cocktail menu, courtesy bar managers Loren Lee and Brandon Wolff.
