An unlikely new collaboration will bring together the respective fanbases of “vintage pop” duo in/PLANES and hip-hop group BullHead*ded. Inaiah Lujan and Zetfree Found*ded have announced the formation of a new “genre-bending super-duo” with an introductory single, “Paper Trail,” posted on Found*ded Records’ Soundcloud page earlier this month. The track, which effectively blends Lujan’s gentle vocals and Zet’s ever-impressive emcee skills, is an auspicious beginning for what should be an intriguing musical partnership.

Singer-songwriter Curtis Boucher, meanwhile, finds himself of a contemplative and socially conscious mind on his new track, “Can’t Go Home and You Can’t Stay Here,” a meditation on local homeless communities being forced from their camping areas along Fountain Creek. The song, available on Boucher’s own Soundcloud page, recalls vintage Neil Young not only in its melancholy vocals but also its deep empathy.

Timmy Vilgiate, who brought us the excellent, hallucinatory album Songs to Panic on Dramamine To in February of this year, has returned with a new track, “Loose Ships,” a catchy piano, string and kitchen sink-led stomper. Available on Vilgiate’s Bandcamp site, the song is the first track off an upcoming album economically entitled Don’t bring me back when the emperor calls loose ships on waves of sound. I swore I’d remember it all when I met you, the way you used to yell. A storm passes over the city that we knew. The early days, it was all you’d ever know.

Finally, singer-songwriter Joe Johnson is preparing to release a new single, “Snake Skin Dress,” and accompanying album, Morgantown, as well as embark on a 13-state release tour in early August. Keep your ears open for when it appears, as you’ll hear harmonica contributions from Grant Sabin and guitar work from Kenny Brown.
