Drummer Aimee Spillane (far right) has played with Head Full of Zombies, Evie’s Edge, Naked Potato, Edith Makes a Paper Chain, Tattooed Love Girls and far too many others to mention. Says her good friend, legendary local musician Marc Raab: “Aimee Spillane has drummed in every venue in every type of band playing every kind of music you can think of. Because she’s a drummer. If you know anything about live music in this burg, you know good drummers are hard to come by and most of them are flakes. This also describes Aimee. In spite of this, it’s hard to find somebody who knows her personally who has a bad word to say about her. That may change after you read her Sound Advice. Oh, but I doubt it.”

Essential Saturday night listening: I often like to put on something that I can dance to, so English Beat, David Bowie, The Police, Prince, New Order, The Cure, The Pretenders…

Essential Sunday morning listening: So after a long night of Saturday dancing and frivolity, The Cocteau Twins or Joni Mitchell are a nice way to start a Sunday. Also please refer to my guilty pleasure question, another nice way to start a Sunday morning.

First record I bought with my own money: Adam and the Ants, Kings of the Wild Frontier… because the percussion is amazing and it was like nothing I had ever heard before. Ant Music!

“Wish I’d written that” song:
Brian Wilson’s “God Only Knows” or Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U”; both songs make me feel things that no other songs do.

“Wish I could unhear that” song: “We Built This City” by Starship, well, because it’s really just kind of lame.

My latest online discovery: Billie Eilish, she is far too young to be so dark and creepy, but I love it.

Artist more people should know about: Sea Wolf. Regina Spektor. If you had to look up Sea Wolf, then…

Guilty pleasure: My Lite ’70s Rock Pandora station, i.e., Steely Dan, Christopher Cross, James Taylor, Carly Simon… reminds me of riding in the car with my dad when I was a kid.
